Posted on Mar 14, 2013 by

Amy Gurley and Shelley Harrison have been elected to serve on Opportunity Fund’s Board of Directors.  “We are thrilled to have two new members join the Board,” said Board Chair David Krimm. “Amy and Shelley both bring a rich knowledge of marketing and have extensive leadership and philanthropic experience, key assets for Opportunity Fund as we continue to lead the growth of this high-impact non-profit.”

Shelley Harrison is the founder of San Francisco-based Launch Pad, Inc., a high-tech start-up consultancy, where she has advised nearly 200 companies, many of whom have experienced successful IPOs and acquisitions. Harrison, who began her career with Hewlett-Packard in the 1980s, has been involved in numerous high-tech success stories. She currently serves on the Marketing Advisory Board for Michigan State University, and is a volunteer with the Taproot Foundation and Schools of the Sacred Heart. Harrison is a long-standing member of the Alois Society of the Alzheimer's Association, and a regular financial contributor to numerous arts and social causes.

Amy Gurley worked at CS First Boston from 1990 to 1997 in the Investment Banking Group and then as an Associate in the Research Group covering the Semiconductor Industry and then Beverages & Branded Products.  In 1998, Gurley began work in the Marketing Department at Onsale.com where she helped develop customer tracking tools.  After leaving Onsale.com in late 1999, Gurley did marketing consulting work for companies such as Nordstrom.com, Pets.com, ToysRUs.com, and eToys.com.  She served on the board of Windmill School in Portola Valley from 2004 to 2009 in the capacity of Secretary and then as President for 3 years.  She continued her volunteer efforts at Windmill by chairing a successful feasibility study and kicking off a capital campaign for the school to raise money and re-locate Windmill School to a permanent location.  Additionally, Gurley has chaired or served on committees for various fundraising efforts for the Portola Valley School District and Sacred Heart Schools.

“Amy and Shelley make wonderful additions to our Board of Directors at a time when we are expanding to help more low-income Californians in more places than ever before,” said CEO Eric Weaver.
