Opportunity Fund is pleased to announce Christopher Berini will be joining Opportunity Fund as the new Chief Development Officer. Christopher is a strategic leader focused on building a stronger and healthier community by developing powerful partnerships.
He brings strengths in fundraising, relationship management, compelling communications, delighting stakeholders, and driving results to the Chief Development Officer role at Opportunity Fund. He joins Opportunity Fund’s leadership as the organization aims to scale its reach in California and across the U.S., working towards a strategic plan to invest $500 million to drive economic mobility for 50,000 underserved entrepreneurs and working families by 2020.
“Building stronger communities and improving the health of those communities has always been my passion. So I am thrilled to now join Opportunity Fund, driving support for economic equity and financial health. Together we can transform communities, empower determined entrepreneurs, and move ever closer to closing the opportunity gap for good,” said Christopher Berini, Opportunity Fund’s new Chief Development Officer.
Prior to joining the team, he held key roles in fundraising, including Director of Development at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Development Manager at Project Inform. Through his various roles in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, he developed a deep understanding of diversity and inclusion which are key values of Opportunity Fund.
In addition to his professional roles, Christopher has served in board leadership for New Leaf: Services for our Community and Academy of Friends. He earned a bachelor’s degree with Honors in English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
“The CDO is a critical role for Opportunity Fund. We are confident that Christopher’s direct experience in fundraising roles, board service, and sales disposition and discipline have equipped him well to further scale our Development organization,” said CEO Luz Urrutia.
“In addition, the insights he brings from the for profit world combined with the opportunity he’s had to put those insights into practice at the AIDS Foundation, will serve him well to take on this great opportunity. While Christopher has never worked in an organization supporting entrepreneurship and financial inclusion, he has a deep understanding of diversity and inclusion which represents an added bonus for the work we do.”
