Victoria

Victoria came to the U.S. from Mexico when she was 15 years old in search of economic opportunities. She worked for years in janitorial and hospitality services at hotels and commercial buildings. When her daughter was born, she started dreaming about her own business so that she could be in control of her work schedule and spend as much time as possible caring for her family.
A friend told Victoria about Opportunity Fund’s IDA program, and Victoria started saving. Initially, she thought she would save to purchase a home. But as she reached her savings goal after a couple of years, she realized that the cleaning business she had recently started needed to grow. She first took business planning classes at StartUp. She purchased a van for her company, Vision Cleaning Services, with her savings and matching funds. The van allowed Vicki to expand her cleaning crew and provide services throughout the South Bay.
Victoria’s confidence from her successful venture has made her excited about future plans for a health food business. She knows that she has the knowledge and the tools to make that dream come true. Today, Vicki is proud to be a business owner and an active parent who is involved with her daughter’s school and her community.
