"A Microfinance Walking Tour"
Date:
Saturday, November 19th
Location:
Mission District, San Francisco
Description: Get trained as a local microfinance ambassador and help Opportunity Fund reach more borrowres!

Visit a local business and meet the entrepreneur whose dream was funded by a microloan. Then taking a walking tour through the San Francisco Mission District to see more "Opportunity Funded" local businesses. This is your chance to see microfinance happening right here in your own backyard and get involved to make a difference.  Learn about the microlending process and what it takes to make these "tiny loans" so that you are a trained Opportunity Fund ambassador in the community, helping us reach more microloan borrowers in need of a helping hand!

OCTOBER

Call Night: Kiva Journal Entries and IDA Microsavings Congratulations
Date:
Wednesday, October 19th, 2011
Location: Opportunity Fund's office (either SJ or SF, tbd)
Description:

Join us in our offices for an evening of phone calls and camaraderie. For Call Nights, we split up the list of clients to call with two goals:

1. Phone all borrowers with profiles posted on Kiva and get updates for journal entries on the progress of their loans.
2. Phone IDA MicroSavings Alumni who recently met their savings goal and invested in their education, a new home, or their own small business. Give them a call to say 'congratulations' on meeting their savings goal! Ask if an Opportunity Fund staff member could interview them in person to get their "sucess story" for our website.

SEPTEMBER

Taste of Microfinance - assistant chefs, catering staff and event staff
Date: Tuesday, September 27, 2011
Location: Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, downtown San Francisco
Description: Taste of Microfinance is a fundraiser and friendraiser that Opportunity Fund is hosting. It's a food festival and cocktail party celebrating entrepreneurship and microfinance in the local food scene. Opportunity Funders are encouraged to relax and enjoy the party. You can help us out by inviting friends and sharing your love for the people we help in the community. If you want to work, we could use help with the following:

  • Assistant Chef: Help the culinary entrepreneurs warm, plate, and serve their food
  • Catering Staff: Help serve tasty bites of food by carrying a tray of food around the party
  • Event Staff: Arrive early or stay late to help us set up or break down the party
