Snapshot: CEG Worldwide provides business development consulting services pro bono to Opportunity Fund's Small Business Loans team In the fall of 2007, CEG guided Small Business Loans Director Evelyn Huang and her team through an executive planning session to manage the continued growth of Opportunity Fund's small business loan program. John Bowen, CEG's Founder and CEO, contacted Opportunity Fund after reading an article about us in the San Jose Business Journal. "CEG Worldwide's expertise is very relevant to Opportunity Fund's mission. We are helping Opportunity Fund become closer to their customer and market by developing a better understanding of their customer's needs, communicating their value proposition more strongly, and developing the relationship more energetically every step of the way," he says. Simon Glinsky, CEG's Senior Managing Principal, was also excited to join the project. "My own family is a Cuban-American immigrant family, and I believe in the opportunity to develop community achievement and good business in the United States," he says. "I wasn't sure what to expect from the process when we started working together," says Evelyn. "John and Simon provided invaluable thought and guidance to my team and me." Simon and John agree that the engagement produced a very meaningful outcome for Opportunity Fund and for CEG. "We're impressed with Opportunity Fund's thoughtfulness and commitment to the work. The team integrated our thinking and ideas very quickly, adapting and making them their own, and came up with implementation plans right away. This has not been a paperwork strategic planning exercise," says John. "Entrepreneurs and small business people create jobs, create learning and create new generations of educated and connected Americans," says Simon. "These are the folks Opportunity Fund encourages and assists."
